biography
My love of paint began in my younger years, but it was in my late teens before I realised that I could actually express myself on paper and canvas. So I began various methods of painting.By the time I was 25 I was married with a family and had employment so time was scarce in these times.
In 1971 we emigrated to Australia, really this was the start of my painting in a serious way. I found our new country fascinating..the colours, shapes, sculptured rocks..The architecture remarkable by way of Government buildings and Colonial houses. I began to paint everything I had time for paying much more attention to detail. Also decided to stay with oil as watercolour was too risky in the tropics due to humidity and we lived in Queensland.
Australia presented me with nature at its best.. the ultimate challenge a stark and almost brutal contrast to the UK.
I recently spent time out there again..photographing everything in sight so have a lot of work in front of me.
I have had a number of exhibitions at local museums, several galleries, libraries, centres and hotels.
I enjoy what I do and am always seeking improvement with my photography and painting.
